In a family where home made brownies come from a box and Digorno makes the best home made pizza EVER. I proudly proclaim that i made a home made apple pie! And not the fake home made either, the legitimate kind of home made where you accidentally don't roll the dough out into a big enough circle before you put it into the freezer so you have to kind of mush the top and bottom crusts together so the apple juice doesn't ooze everywhere when its in the oven...yeah that kind of home made.

Proof.

It was quite the endeavor though, lately i've gotten into the annoying habit of feeling lightheaded if i stand to long...get to hot..don't eat often enough...get to tired...etc etc. with that in mind i shall begin to tell my tale.

The recipee said it would take 30 minutes to prepare everything before it would be ready to go into the oven-i think that counts for all kitchens EXCEPT mine.

9:30 am- i did a quick clean up, set all of the pie ingredients out on the counter and started to peel some apples. When i read that there was only a 30 minute prep time i thought "PERFECT! thats about how long it takes to heat the oven" so i set the dial to 425 degrees. Big Mistake, thats where it all went downhill. Within about 5 minutes the entire kitchen was 425 degrees and the pregnant girl just trying to peel some apples in the midst of it all was about to pass out. so i thought "well, this is going to take longer then i thought" off goes the oven. On goes the air conditioner.

9:45-10:15 am- sat on the couch with the A/C and the fan going, folding laundry and drinking water till i didn't feel light headed anymore. all the while vaugue thoughts of aborting mission in a favor of a drive to the grocery store floated around in my head.

10:15am- Went back upstairs to peel some more apples, and ended up sitting on the floor to do it because it was still freaking hot in there.

10:30am- Went back downstairs to drink water and prepare myself to enter the kitchen again.

Cycle repeats it self

4:45pm-
Put the pie in the oven for 50 minnutes. No, i'm not kidding. it really did take all day to bake one 30 minute pie. Oh gosh. I was worth it though!

I told Nick to make a face that said "mmmmm! this pie is good!"

Haha, okay he really did like it a swear! He's eaten nearly all of it, which is a good thing because it will be a loooooooong time before i make a another "30 minute" pie.
